How fun. I just came from Olde Sawmill Elementary having watched our daughter Rachel and her classmates recite stories they had memorized. This past Sunday I informed the people of Encounter Church how their financial giving met the needs of people in 2011.Out of our benevolance fund (5%) and what we gifted over the year to our missionaries (10%) Encounter's giving will top $40,000.00 by years end! Last Friday night Rachel and I went to the Clippers game downtown. Her birthday is coming up in early September but we thought the two of us would celebrate a little early. This morning, December 19th, marked a mile stone for Encounter Church: the 100th church service.At the beginning of our church plant I told the congregation which Sunday it was for the first 15 weeks. This past Sunday was unique. We had a request for a family dedic ation. Usually we do this sort of thing on Mother's Day but it's fun to make exceptions. This Sunday's service has a few special elements to it. Besides the normal well led worship we will also be celebrating the communion of the Bread and Cup. This Friday, December 3rd at 7:00pm is Encounter's Christmas party. Our mother church is the location: Grace Church in Powell. We use their awesome basement that is decorated for the season, has ping-pong, pool tables, foosball and more.
